About every 100 mtrs or so the pollution was visible in the water. In front of Padma and Sofitel were particularly bad. Never seen it like this before. The gorgeous white foam on the surf was brown. Frothy brown on the beach. Revolting. I will never consider entering the water again.
People on their early morning walks were just standing and pointing to it. I felt sorry for the surfers trying to find a "clear" channel in and out. People were cancelling their surf lessons. Bali will certainly suffer if this situation is not rectified.
I don't mind the "wash up" pollution, just rubbish that can be cleaned up but I honestly feel that this pollution could kill you.
