we buy a sim card there and it is much cheaper. You do end up with a new number but it is not that hard to save it to the phone. I bought a sim card for about 80,000rp and I sent loads sms' to Perth and made a fair few call to Perth as well. SMS' in Bali are only about 5 cents using their sim cards. I felt it was worth it. I had global roaming when we went to Thailand in 2001 and it cost me well over $100 on my phone bill for just a couple of calls as you get charged an international rate when people call you. i would never use Global Roaming again.
