We came back last Thursday, it is security guards everywhere out on the streets NOT police!
The security is very good there and they are out the front of everwhere - restaurants, clubs, tourist sites etc. I think they are there to give comfort to the tourists, not because something is going on.
The Prime Minister of Singapore was staying at our hotel last week and I noticed not only was SECURITY VERY high when there at the hotel, but also more security out on the streets of Kuta. I guess just like it would be if our prime minster was travelling.
The balinese DID talk openly about Shap corb, and i gathered they wished she would have been returned home to Australia so that the tourists would come back. I never bought up the subject, it was always the taxi drivers, waitresses etc that bought it up. Interesting, all the ones that bought it up with me think she was set up - THIS SURPRISED ME!!!!
The streets are very quiet - very few tourist but plenty of balinese everywhere.
We were with our 2 daughters aged 3 and 6 and never felt any danger anytime during our 2 weeks - and we arrived on the day Shap Corb sentance was handed down.
