... enought to stop us travelling. As we are going with our 3 children I can assure you that I would not take them somwhere where I thought they were at any serious risk. I checked out the travel warnings on the NZ foreign affairs website and was surprised to see how many other countries had 'alerts' on them as well - eg USA, Spain, UK.
Personally I do beleive the media is playing a huge role in the hype and sensationalism of 'terrorism' - and having lived in the London during the days of the IRA bombings I dont really see it as something new !!!. Also I wonder if in some ways you are safer somewhere where a possible risk is being actively monitored due to the increased security in place. The last time my mother-in-law went to the USA she was staying with my sister (on a military base of all places!!) when a plane flew into the White House just up the road - Im she never imagined when she left NZ that she might be at any risk in the US !!! And yes she is back there again at the moment!
As I always tell my (midwifery) clients a little bit of fear is good as it keeps you safe - however too much is counterproductive and is usually associated with adverse outcomes!!! So go - do some planning - take some precautions - and have a great time!!
