My husband had a major heart attack in 1994 on Australia Day. About 2 months later he flew to Adelaide for a week and then came back and had his angioplasty. He'd had the angiogram previously but that specialist didn't do angioplasty. (6 weeks after the heart attack). Of course the specialist who was to do it was flying to US to learn new techniques which he used on my husband. Usually these days they do the angiogram and if they find out anything wrong they will do an angioplasty straight away. I don't know what the procedure is today but my husband had to do rehab for quite some weeks. He'll probably be fine to fly. Check with his cardiac specialist. Only problem may be insurance, if it was taken out prior to heart attack it should be fine. My husband has to pay a heavy excess to get insurance cover, even though he hasn't had any problems since. However we don't want to take the chance of not having him insured for this. Murphy'a Law and all that. Hope it all works out fine for you all.
