Absolutely right JenPen furthermore, there are 2 drinking holes on the way - Ma Joly Rest and Pantai Seafood Res, both good places to meet and greet!!!! (They are almost half way between the 2 hotels) It could get a bit tricky at high tide when the waves are known to have crashed into Pantai otherwise it's the only way to go.
Having said that tho, if you want to take the road then go along JL Kartika Plaza until you reach Gang Samudra and turn right into it. You will find there are some good tailors and shops down there as well as a couple of warungs. At the end just turn left and Bali Hai is 200 metres away.
