Bear in mind that most pharmacies in Bali have almost no medication at all, even in tourist areas like Kuta. If you are stuck for a prescription drug, ask to see the pharmacy's Mims, which is a catalogue of prescription drugs. The pharmacy may be able to get the product you want, or an Indonesian brand of the same thing. It is unlikely that a doctor's script will be required, but you may be charged a heap. My wife needed Moduretic, a diuretic, for which there was an Indonesian equivalent listed in Mims called Lorinid. Only one pharmacy offered to get it, at R245000. Next day I called again after trying everywhere else in walking distance around Legian/Kuta(it was the only pharmacy offering to get it in for me and was the pharmacy nearest the traffic lights in Legian Rd) and the price offered was 125000. I accepted and it arrived after about 36 hours. Mims has a wholesale price for each drug, which you can use as a guide to a fair price (Lorinid was listed at about 89000). How much you pay of course will be according to how desperate you are. For the morning after pill, be aware that it may not be obtainable and may arrive too late to be effective.
