oh heck ... all of Bali is great. On the way to Amed, you can stop at the Warung Lesehan Merta Sari in Kusamba area for fantastic spicy fish satay meal (it is mentioned in Janet De Neefe's book Fragrant Rice, as one of her favourites), if you are going to Klungkung, you could visit the Taman Gili (the old law courts with art on the ceilings), at Tirtaganna you have the water palace with really nice gardens and water features, absolutely beautiful rice terracing around Abang? enroute to Culik and then you get to the Amed area. Coming out of the Amed area along the coast to Ujung, the road is like a rollarcoaster on the sides of the hills (try in on a motorbike - it's fun). Padang Bai is also one of my favourite places and has some great beaches over the headlands either side of the main harbour. If you want some of my JBR's with more info email me (but remove the NoSpam notation in the address and I'll send you some), or you can read our website info www.bali.webhop.net. We did 3 nights at Lipah Bay at the Bayu Cottages in March 2005 and loved it. There were other places in Lipah so you can vary your eating places and you can arrange snorkelling trips to a shipwreck at Banyuning using a traditonal boat, a few bays along (and hills if going via the road), my suggestion is to get a boat ride down there. You can snorkell straight out at Lipah Bay for coral and fish but it is more prolific at Banyuning Bay. Hope this helps.
