which is reachable from Banyuwangi. It is a volcano with an enormous sulphur crater lake inside. A pretty challenging climb (for me anyway!) up a reasonable path that is pea gravel. There are guys who work in the crater carting sulphur and it is just an amazing place - you will find no tourist there we were the only foreigners that week (this is a few years ago though)
Bromo is also worth the trip, but I agree with Cliff, Banyuwangi is just a transport stop we didnt spend any time in the town itself.
Nice coffee plantations and national parks around there as well.
