Also just got back, we love the people & the place BUT have had enough of the bargaining and the sunglasses/watches/tee shirts sarongs etc - with Free plastic bag! ok the first 50 times. Give me a week or two and the presure of it might receed. I think coupled with organising the family, getting a bit crook and running the whole trip it was just too much in the last few days, but hey we still had a great holiday. We to ended up going to fixed price shops like Geneva too, happier to pay more for less hassle. We went up to Pemuteran for four nights it was a three hour drive but well worth it and no hassles to buy things as there was nothing to buy! Yippee! relaxing!
Poor you with Customs, what a blighter stealing from poor people like that! They weren't interested in us so my 47 pairs made it though however I have to email the John Fawcett Foundation to check if they picked them up as arranged from our hotel in Seminyak - we just didnt get time to get to Sanur. I have no faith that our hotel wont throw the boxes out if they dont pick up soon. Glad I saw your post and was reminded.
If your not totally Bali'ed out think about getting out of the rat race next time I can highly recommend Pemuteran for R & R and fantasic snorkling!
