Hi, sorry to disappoint but no to the boiling lava, if there was you shouldnt be there anyway :), when we were there last i dont think there was even any smoke rising, make sure you go on a nice clear day it can get clouded in and spoil the view, doesnt matter what time you go the hawkers up there are a bit over enthusiastic. my kids were 8,9 and 11 when we went up, I dont think there got bored with the drive.
