My last trip in Dec 04 was in a group of 10 work mates. Two of them have owned restaurants and are fairly fussy about standards- they don't mind paying just object to poor quality and presentation SO off to the 5* places we went .Last week someone asked about favourite restaurants and I replied that mine was Papas - the corner south end table upstairs. I recommend La Luciolas in my do's & dont's but for breakfast - I thought the food ok at Bubbas - but the atmosphere too much "hoo ha" and not where I like to enjoy dinner. Good if you have kids but not wher I like to dine . I have been to the Bubbas on Fishermans Wharf in San Francisco the difference I found was that Balis was much lighter and more open . I have a menu from San Fran and the prices are a bit more too. I drank too much at Bubbas and ended up on the Sling Shot(I blame the noisy atmosphere ) anyway I survived it .
My second most enjoyable meal last trip was at Ma Jollys - I think the Padma Club is the best value for money restaurant. I don't really like to recommend restaurants in the Do's & Don'ts as there is a good comprehensive list by Lynnee D which covers many . Thanks for your encouragement - I'm the Martha Stewart in my office and for my extended family - so writing hints etc and offering advice is fun - One day I would love to put some of my crazy ideas into a book - I will leave you (perhaps more advantage to your wife) with one of my ideas
I have 3 kids and have also raised 3 neices & a nephew giving us a total of 7 - their ages range from 17 to 33 - all but the 17yo are partnered some with kids so when they are all home its pretty hectic.
I often have more than 20 for meals. Baked Dinners are always requested. My hubbie now does them in the Webber and all we have to do is serve up the greens and pour the gravy from a thermos . Its great - I make the gravy early and the peas or beans go in the microwave. Everyone serves themselves and I get to watch the footie too. When we BBQ I make a thermos of Diane sauce and put it in the thermos too. Geez I'm off the Bali track now- better stop
