I have it on very good authority that this does NOT work to kill BORER.Apparently the "dust" we see is actually the excrement from the borer and the insect spray doesnt kill the borer at all.The borer burrows in to the timber and can lay dormant for 17 YEARS !! I too lost some placemats from Geneva to customs in Perth and the same guy gave me all this information. My placemats had "water hyacinth " in them which I hadnt realised but I also bought some timber from Geneva and one had the fine powder underneath ( after me treating it twice in Bali just like you said). The customs guy said he let it in because there was no evidence of borer holes but gave me a slip to contact them if I find more powder at a later stage. As he said we would hardly want anything in our houses if the thing can lay dormant for 17 years.I work in an imported furniture shop and been told the insect spray trick too but it is a fallacy unfortunately.
