There are still a lot of places to do haggling! Don't worry - you'll be fine.

It's still got that feel, don't worry too much. I don't want to upset you by saying that it's changed irreversably or too much. It has changed, don't get me wrong but I think at the moment, it's probably perfect. If Bali keeps on developing the way it has, then I am sure it won't be such a paradise - again, this is only my opinion.

My partner thought the major development was due to the Bali bombings. They have done a lot to the place since then and that's one of the main areas that has changed A LOT.

It's still Bali - very much so. I just want it to stay that way forever (selfish me!).

Down near Legian is very quiet now though - I remebered when it used to be quite busy down that end but now it is dead! We walked up that way often and the little stalls were closing at about 8.00 which is very early seeing as most places close at 10.00 or there abouts. The restaurants up that way are very quiet too. We also walked past Peanuts and there was nobody in there whereas I remember that it used to be really busy! I don't know - you could think I am compltely wrong! I'd like to know what you think about it when you next go over there.

I got completely disorientated when I first got there on my holiday - I couldn't work out where anything was because of the change. Mind you, to be fair, I was mostly familiar with the bars and nightclubs and some restaurants! The changes certainly put me off guard a bit at first but soon I found my bearings after visiting the hotels I had stayed at before and from there, I was (reasonably) fine...that's not to say I got lost again! :)
