these travel warnings have been in place since the Sari Club bombing. At all times it is totally up to you but I personally think lifes a little too short to stay locked in a cage. there is a risk of injury or even death everytime you climb out of bed, not going to stop me getting up and enjoy the day.
By all means take caution. i personally wont frequent some 'westerner' hotspots, more because I am not on holidays for that rather than these warnings. These warnings are more a result of the backlash from the lack of warning for the sari bombing. Just the government covering there a**es for any future incidents. (in another breath the foreign minister is telling us NOT to boycott bali!!)
So take whatever precautions you feel necessary and dont let it ruin your hoilday
