Tell that to msjj's husband who got it in Bali a few years ago and now has it for life. They stayed in Legian and surfed at the nearby beaches. Not worth the risk in my book with the numbers of bites I get. I know Malarone is a preventative .... and trust me, I pay handsomely for this protection, (AUS$135 for 2 wks) but after watching my father suffer the effects of malaria I choose not to go there. My Dr agrees with this decision. Call me paranoid but I also choose to wear a seat belt in a car if there is one provided and I don't dive into lakes without first checking the depth .....But thanks Kura _kura as I know you are looking after my best interests. I have the Stop Itch cream already packed and have great faith in the chemists in Bali who have been most helpful on past trips. In fact I have found a lot of the remedies in Bali often better than what we have here. Cheers!
