I particularly love Bali mornings, which is really strange, as I am NOT at all a morning person. I always wake up early and refreshed when I am in Bali, and it's at this time that I love wandering the streets and talking to the locals as they go about getting ready for their days trade or work. I usually walk for an hour or so, and stop randomly along the way for Kopi. I always take different streets and lanes and sometime end up deeply lost within housing complexes, lol. Mornings in Bali are always an adventure for me.
It's also a great opportunity just to get out on your own and do a little thinking or reflection, before having to deal with the family for the day.
Upon returning to the accommodation, I try valiantly to wake up the family for a good hour, while I do a little tidying up. More Kopi is consumed, then we usually head for breakfast to the dining area.
I like to change what I have for breakfast every morning, as I can't stand having the usual fried goods every day while I'm away. I don't do it at home and it doesn't really agree with me too much. Sometimes a banana pancake, or Nasi Goreng, or an egg on toast, or just toast and kopi.
I always make sure the kids have a big breakfast as they tend to lose themselves in whatever they are doing and don't stop to think about food all day.
It's usually around the breakfast table that we discuss our plans for the day, unless we have preplanned a tour or something. We tend to break our days up into two hour blocks, as that is usually sufficient time for everyone to spend on their chosen activity. We plan to meet back up at the resort at certain times and then continue on with our daily activities of swimming, beaching, shopping, visiting friends.
I usually down my first Bintang sometime around lunch, and then get a taste for the liquid gold, so that by midnoon, I am ready for a little nap and the kids are usually so worn out that they need a nap too. We have found that our mid afternoon Bali naps keep us going all night long, so that we can go out a bit later for dinner and the kids can come and watch a band with us, or go out on late night walks.
We either then hire a sitter, or leave the kids with a friend, then we really hit the night time fun! Well, I do anyway, lol, hubbies usually ready for bed......but I'm a 33 year old that likes to party and hasn't really ever grown up. I usually befriend others in the same situation who enjoy the company of having someone sensible, but fun to go out dancing and drinking with.
I usually sit at the bar of GVC after arriving back, just chit chatting for a while, while Putu or Harry make me a yummy latte or hot chocolate....then I toddle off to bed, to awake fresh as a daisy 4 or so hours later and ready to do it all again!
I love Bali and can't wait to get back there. 7 WEEKS! Yay...going it solo with a girlfriend this time! ;)
