Hi Kevin - the Inna Kuta Beach is a perfect location right on Kuta Beach - you step from the hotel straight onto the sand, and there are little beach bars and sellers under the trees, the markets are next door, and you can surf right there as well, so always plenty to do right there. It is a large hotel, mixture of guests, but not a real 'party' hotel, but not full of young children either. Because you are staying in Kuta you are right in the middle of the party scene though, you can walk or take a $1 taxi ride to all the clubs/bars etc. The 'party' hotels attract quite a lot of 18-25 yr old groups and can be quite loud (and they are not on the beach). I think the Inna is perfect for what you want - you will not be far from all the action, but you will be able to chill out there when you want as well. I really like the hotel and the location. The guys working the beach bars (which are basically plastic chairs round an esky and are great fun) know the surf/party scene very well, so they will give you plenty of advice if you ask. You will have a great time!
