I check the shops first and the prices - There are some beautiful ones in the classier shops along Jl Legian. You can also check out
the pearl salesman at S&S between 5 & 6 or
you can look for Sahara who is usually on the beach in front of the Zanzibar.
Lalu and his mates are usually around the Zanzibar too but I couldn't find them last year Dec 04 .
I used the shops as a guide before I was game to purchase of the beach boys.
