I stayed there for a few days in August 2003. Clean, comfortable, quiet, fairly small and compact. Aircon was fine, in room security safe where you set your own combination. Manager Paulus lives on site with his wife and child. Friendly and approachable. Really nice friendly staff. Unlike most hotel restaurants, the Green Garden has such a good reputation for good cheap food that people come in off the street to eat there. Say "Hi" to waiter Willie from Rex.

Not what I would call "romantic" for a honeymoon hotel, however.

Other places I like in that area. Kodak shop nearly next door for honest easy money changing. Small supermarket just past there. Daddy's Cafe a little south and across the road, up a funny spiral staircase. Eat, drink and watch the world go by. First laneway on the right going towards the beach full of nice little shops with nice people. Have a Coke halfway down with Dini. Pantai Restaurant right on the beach, managed by Willie's brother Franz. Low key and inexpensive. During the day the beach sellers come by to tempt you from the restaurant edge. At night you get the same sunset as Jimbaran Bay.

For romance I can certainly recommend Ubud. My favourite is room River 3 at the Tjampuhan Hotel.
