Here's the lowdown on PS2 and DVDs.
PS2 from anywhere in the world will need to have a mod chip installed prior to playing any of the cheap PS2 games from Bali. Mod Chips in many countries are illegal as they are designed primarily to circumvent copy protection.
Most, if not all, DVDs will work on cheaper and less well-known brands of dvd players. Some brands such as Sony will not play some pirated DVDs because of the copy protection features. Regions do not come into play when getting DVDs from Bali. My suggestion is to buy the 100 or so DVDs you want and then if they don't work on the DVD player you have at home, go and buy yourself a new cheap DVD for US$60.
