Yes, it is quieter in Sanur. Don't remember it being as quiet as smurf says though. That's scary. We like it there because we're a bit older and don't go in for the partying etc.

The Griya is a lovely hotel. We always stay in the garden rooms near the little pool at the centre of the property. Here's the link to their website, just for a look:

It's a very deep property, reaching from the street right down to the beach. We like the rooms in the centre (standard garden room) because they're away from the bustle at the beach, and you don't get the noise from the bars on the street at night. The gardens are gorgeous, and the little pool is usually very quiet. Don't get the kids or the drinkers there because there's no swim-up bar. But there's a phone so you can call the bar for food and drink service.

The shops at Sanur are great. There is also the Sindhu Beach market, which can get a little feral at times, but usually manageable. There are some terrific restaurants (although rarely mentioned on the Forum). A favourite of ours is Aladin Cafe, which is out of the main gate and a couple of hundred metres to the right, past the Lazer Sports Bar. We also go to Lazers regularly, for the football and their Penguin Satay (six little satay sticks with plenty of sauce for the grand price of $1).

Hope you enjoy Sanur as much as we do. Send me an email if you have any more questions, and we may be able to send you some photos.
