Following the downturn in tourist numbers, probably compounded or at least continued with the present growth in popularity of digital cameras, there is a gross oversupply of photo labs in Bali. Many of these in the popular tourist areas may not get a film to process for days on end and consequently I believe that their mechanical and chemical maintenance slips and the results are poor.
In the past few visits I have discovered Bali Fotografi where the owner, Pak Leo, is a photographer himself and handles only film and printing at his shop although he will get digital work done at places he personally selects. For example he does my prints but leaves the negs in one long strip. On the day before I leave I take all of the full length negs back to him and he gets all the shots transferred onto CD's.
He has a regular clientel amongst the ex-pats from all over the island which speaks highly of his work.
He has a Kodak sign over his small building near the Super Nova Supermarket at Jl Raya Kuta No57X, Kuta. Phone 751 329.
Take him and his girls a Chuppa Chup and they'll know who sent you and that you want only the best.
