You are sooo lucky to be going in 2 days...I am jealous. I live outside of Seattle in the mountains but am from Vancouver....on a quick note I would say its really hot right now with the humidity so drink lots of water . I found the sunscreen on my face would drip into my eyes and mouth almost within minutes when out on the streets. We only spent a couple days in Semniyak at the end....only went to Kuta to see the memorial (instantly got teary eyes) and to buy some CD's. Travelled a lot...Bali has sure changed in 18 years..of course what was I thinking...could hardly recognize Ubud and Kuta and other places but still was all wonderful. Stayed at the Hotel Tjamphuan in Ubud which was so magical....need to stay down by the river to make it even better...
a lot of steps though....ate lots of nasi goreng..love the stuff...with tempe and tofu was really good....another magical place which I will write about soon in the official JBR was one of our favorite places...we went snorkelling near Pemuteran in the north...takes 3 hours to get there but so worth it...get a driver to take you through Bedugal and Munduk....on the way there...you take a boat which takes an hour and the snorkelling is the best place I ever did it...also did it at Blue Lagoon in Candidasa but the place up north is the best..anyways we didn't stay in Pemuteran but at a place in Serriritt...check the email site..
you can book online or call when there and they don't need a credit card to hold the room..its called Zen energy lifestyle resort....its about 74 US$ with breakfast...the pool and view is divine, the food there magnificent and reasonable...the rooms very zen with piped in cool music...only 7 rooms...a big yoga place, also spa...and for $25 a person they drive and get the snorkeling equipment and boat for you...we were on the island and it was full moon and so there was a ceremony and festival and all these boats came to the island and we went to see..it was cool...no one lives on the island..its used for snorkeling and diving..well worth it and well worth it to stay at zen lifestyle instead of pemuteran as a treat...if you stay in pemuteran Iheard aneka bagus is good..
anyways have fun and more soon. there are not that many travellers in bali right now and some places are hurting...the zen place was full and so romantic and the care they give you is amazing...its owned by a French Canadian Claude..have fun look under google under zen lifestyle resort bali
