I'm sure some ladies would wear them on a plane without arousing any adverse comments. My lady friend had some high heeled ballroom dancing shoes made in Bali and carried them in hand luggage without giving it a second thought.
Talking of "weapons", in 2003 I bought a wooden carving of a group of dolphins which now hangs on my wall. It's flattish with lots of sharp edges and too long to go into my suitcase. I never got around to wrapping it and as I was approaching the baggage check-in, it occurred to me that it would make a pretty good hand weapon and there may be a problem getting it on board as hand luggage. Then I saw a young guy carrying a wicked looking skateboard and I thought, well if that's OK, then what I'm carrying is OK too. And it was!
