I thought it was 35kg before you pay excess luggage but I have been wrong before. I too take empty suitcase with just underwear enough for whole stay. I buy about 5 tshirts and shorts and then get them cleaned which cost about 1500 rupiah per item. I fill my suitcase with wooden items and DVDS.
