Camping is not alowed in Bali you need an Address that can be registered with Polisi (Hotels Register you with Polisi) if you Stay with a friend in private Accomodation your friend would have to register you with Polisi within 24 hours under penalty of Rp5,000,000 fine for not doing so.
The given reason for this is that if something happened, that someone needed to contact you in Emergency situation the polisi would know where to look for you.
