Hi Opal,
Near the Denpasar Markets you have two streets, Jalan Sulawesi & Jalan Hasanudin which have numerous gold/silver shops. Most of the gold is 22 carat and the jewellery is costed by weight. The day's gold price per gram multiplied by the weight of the item. Haven't been for a few years but definitely cheaper than the shops in Kuta/Legian, Ubud or Celuk.
