I would suggest the Legian/Seminyak area and would recomment:
Kumala Pantai - not to big, on the beach etc
Niksoma - newly renovated and quite beautiful plus on the beach for the sunsets
Melasti Beach Resort - book the "old suites". This is still my favourite after 38 trips to Bali from 1976 to now. That section is grassy with lots of trees, spacious rooms, quite dark very romantic.
