OK, it was in 1997, should have said that sooner. I did look at it last time I went and nothing had changed around the pool area (2003), only thing that had was that it looked worse. I guess it was a shock for us as well as we stayed in a deluxe garden bungalow at the Padma the time before. Now for a major statement, we thought that the Bounty Hotel was a palace compared to the Intan! Also, after we had written to Qantas we actually received a refund of $400, we were pretty upset and didn't hold back in the letter.
Holidays have definitely improved since, have discovered Santika Beach Hotel.
