On nusa lembongan they have small cockfights at the same time as the village volleyball game. It is not as cruel as it may sound, once the cock has swipped at the other with the razor sharp blades it all over. The cocks are treated like family pets, some may have a short life but are pampered.
The smaller fights are not in enclosures so they can become dangerous if one chases the other. The bets that are put on can be quite large.
