Well for a 12 year old girl there are heaps of places for you to get all the surf gear you will ever need.
Like some of the others have said the surf factory outlets, there are heaps of different surf shops along jalan legion plus you can also get some of the fake surf wear just along the streets. Volcom,roxy,billabong, hot tuna cant think of the others sorry! Plus if you are into Paul Frank you can get those on the street as well. I bought some for 13 year old girl i know and they where really cheap like $5.00 and are good quality.
As for hair braiding i think you can get that done down the beach pretty cheap and while your doing that get your nails down too. Maybe about 25,000rp. They paint them and you also get pretty little flowers they paint on as well. I had my toes done like that and they lasted for ages.
Is room service fun? Yep if the folks are paying why not! But i think you should not order too much or you may find mum and dad might be a tad cranky!!!!
So have a great trip. You will find so many things you can buy that you will love.
