In Aust all you need to do is take your airline ticket to any retailer eg Harvey Norman and they will sell to you duty free. They take the GST away so a 2000 dollar comp is $200 (roughly) cheaper. You get documents with it and take it with you. I have also heard that you pay full price, take it to Customs as you are leaving and you get re-imbursed the GST. (Something about proving you are exporting then bringing back.) Remember Duty Free limits rise on the 1-2-05 up to about $900 PP so you should be OK. Remember when you bring it back it is second hand so about 20% depreciation goes off the top. $2000 back to $1800 back to about $1620. An average computer is now on special for about $1500 here in the west.
