My favourite memory happened years & years ago, we went up to Lake Braten, I think on the way to Kintamani, and decided to have a go at parasailing. It was my first time doing anything like this & I was a little apprehensive as the harness & ropes had big knots in them & I was instructed to run fast across a small sand area & don't forget to lift the ropes up unless I could decapitate myself. Off I went & way relieved when airborne, the lake is an old volcano crater & as the boat did a big circle around the crater I got the hang of steering the shute by pulling on left or right ropes, flew over skiers & locals bathing on the edge. Came time to land & I decided I was going to land exactly on the small strip of sand I had taken off from. I did not want to land in the water as I wore contact lens. I pulled & pulled on the ropes to bring me in close, the natives below were jumping up & down, I didn't know why. What I couldn't see was that the edge of the crater curved in & trees & shrubs had grown on there & my shute was going to close to the trees. So the boat just cut the engine & zot, I dropped into the water & was fished out. It was the best fun I ever had & I'm hooked on parasailing now.
