There is great diving in Bali.

We spent 4 days at Lembongan island. There are several dive operators but I highly recommend World Diving. See www.world-diving.com This is run by an English couple who were just fantastic. Dives are great - good visibility. Lots of easy drift dives along walls - lots of marine life. World diving even have there own accomodation facilites - suggest you should stay for at least 3 or 4 days.

The second place we dived was at Tulumben. Dived on the wreck and then did a wall dive in an adjacent bay. This was a whole day trip from Kuta/Legian. Again lots of operators. There is even overnight stay opportunities in and around Tulumben.

We dived there last June/July. Only need a 3mm suit. I took all my own gear (except weights and tanks). I felt more comfortable in my own BCD and gear, but the stuff most operators have is pretty good.
