Hi a group of 10 of us went to Bali in 2000 and yes we bought hundreds of fireworks! We went to the beach just at the end of
JL Malasti to fire them off into the water. We had a great time for two nights until someone else came and started letting some off further down the beach and they went near the thached roof of a hotel (can't remember name). We had the police come down and they spoke to one of our friends and took the fireworks off him. I was sitting on a wall and knew that there was a plastic bag with 150 rockets in it still just laying on the beach. I casually walked up and just picked up the bag and walked backwards to where I was sitting and then thought "what anm I going to do with them? I had on one of those Bali short sets with elastic an waistband so I just put them down my pants!! Then the police asked my friend who he was where was he from where was he staying etc and that he had to go to the police station and they were going to press charges. My friend said he had no way to get there as we had walked so fortunatley they let him off. I still had the rockets down my pants though, and we were told to leave the beach. I got my husband to stand along side my and we draped our towel over my arm and walked slowly away with me holding on to the bottom of the rockets so they would not fall outthrough the leg of my shorts. It was a scarey experience and one I would not like to go through again. The rockets got back safe and the following night my friend went back and set them off while I was safe in the hotel. By the way were are not kids we "were" in our very late 40's! So yes they are available in the shops along Malasti street
