The smaller ones in Bali (Up to about a metre high) are a different species. We call these in Australia "Sturts Desert Rose" They say they originated in Japan and usually have pink verigated flowers. They have long seed pods after flowering. The Franjipani's grow much bigger and both have the same type of branch structure. You often see the small ones edging walkways in hotel garden and in pots. Sometimes they can be seen on the edge of roadways and verges. Something to look at in bali next time. I would love to get some seeds from the "Desert Rose" I have a pink and a white one and still looking for the seeds of a darker red one. They love a sunny position and are in full flower here in the west. Bali in less than a fortnight and will have a look at them then. I won't risk bringing any seeds home thou.
