I feel that the price you are looking at paying for your trip to Bali is too expensive. It is much better to shop around a bit more. A lot of the budget hotels have just as much to offer as the more expensive up market rooms. Then you could spend more money on yourself and family as well as supporting the locals.
Anyway it is your choice, have a happy and safe holiday which ever way you decide to go.
