I took TCs in 2002 and it was a pain in the arse. You could always eventually find places to change them, but even some of the Kodak shops had mysterious computer problems when we wanted to change them. With TCs you just need to establish a good reliable place to change them and stick with that place. Expecting to change them whilst you're in the middle of shopping up the other end of town will inevitably end in frustration.
