I stayed there about 5 months ago and had the same issue with the bath. I've got bad knees and managed to slam one into the ground as I slipped over but fortunately didn't do any damage. As for the room itself I think they (some at least) have been recently updated because apart from the old bathroom the main room was very nice with air conditioning, cable TV, mini-bar etc.
The staff were great. All very friendly, attentive and polite. Good currency exchnge rate at main desk and an all round professional and friendly atmosphere. It's on the beachfront and maybe a 5 minute walk (at most) from poppies 2 so it is close to the action without actually being a part of it.
Only issue you should check on is the construction work that has been going on since last year. The hammering was a bit of a pain last time and I'm informed by my travel agent who had to contact the hotel direct to find out that the work is still going on... Armed with that knowledge I'm still staying there again from Jan 29 to Feb 3 and can't really imagine staying anywhere else. Maybe one more pain is that given its position and the traffic flow, it seems to be the first hotel serviced when being collected for tours/transfers and the last to be dropped off.... and don't hang your wet clothes on the outside furniture because they'll be stained by the oil in the wood.
P.S. The weekly seafood barbecue at the attached restaurant is delicious.
