they will have safety deposit boxes. I would leave all my valuables, passports, monies etc in that. I only carry each days' spending money on me - I figures that's what I can afford to loose. As it's your first time, I think that you'll be so blown away by everything you see that carrying a purse/handbag etc is asking for trouble. Even if it's for the first day or so, I would Really really recommend that you use something along the lines of a bumbag. They are ugly, it's true, but safe, you cannot forget to take them, and believe me, you will be experienceing a total sensory overload!
Another thing I would suggest is that for your first walk just to talk a little bit of cash, enough for a couple of drinks and a BLUE BIRD taxi home. That way you can look at EVERYTHING, absorb a tiny bit of all the astounding gear you're going to see, and be financially safe. If you see something you have to have, you can always go back for it later.
