I looked at getting a digital camera prior to my last trip O/S. The duty free shop in Fremantle was more than happy for me to buy the camera and get used to it one month before departure. Just to make sure you knew how to use the camera properly, and not stuff up your happy snaps while away.
Buy it at home, then you have no worries with warranties as well.Have a good trip.
