Those bone / tusk thingies

I will try to describethese things as best I can.At our small Adelaide get together tonite the group reckoned I was talking about some sort of bones or cows horns.

I'm wondering what those white tusk type bone carved ornament thingies are made out of.I've seen them from about 6 inch > 12 inch high in heaps of places.They are hollow & very intricately caved.Does anyone know what I mean ? What are they made of & are we allowed to bring them back into Australia ? Has anyone bought back into Australia - I declare absolutely everything & are NOT prepared to try & sneak anything prohibited back into Australia.

My Mum has some she probably got 30 or 40 years ago that are about a metre tall,they are oriental looking,heavens knows where they came from but I expect customs may have been different back then.I reckon Mum's may even be ivory /elephant tusks.
