This trip to Bali we finally took the plunge and hired a car. A Daihatsu Feroza in good condition complete with offering in the glove box..... So that was enough for me I knew we would be in safe hands. We rang a couple of places and like anywhere you have to ask all the right questions to get the full information. eg what is the excess,insurance,etc. One place whanted to charge and excess of $550USD if we "broke" or "lost" his car. Dont you just hate loosing cars! We settled with a comany whos price was 230.000rp for the day inc insurance etc plus only a maximum 350 ,000 if we "broke' the car. The company delivered and picked up the car and were very thorugh and professional. We ended up having the car for 1 day thenexteneding it to a second day. We drove down to Dreamland and Balangan Beaches and generall yall over the place. Next time will definately contemplate a longer hire for an even more reasonalble price.
We returned the car safely and in tact to the comapny and surprisingly not even one dog,chicken or motorbike had to be prised off the bumper bar....
I know that hiring a car has mixed opinion but this is just our experience.A friend told us that the road rules can be as simple as honk the horn ,a quick prayer to the Gods and then just GO! Hey it worked for us.... Cheers Toni
