I've stayed at 5 places in Candi Dasa and seen a few more. I like the area and hope to spend some time there August this year. Candi Dasa lost most of its beaches years ago due to removal of the coral reef, but there is good beach and coral reef snorkeling in the area if you know where to look.
If you tell me your approx budget and the type of accom you prefer I may be able to help. My favourites are Kubu Bali, individual cottages built into the side of the mountain, central to Candi Dasa, but not beachside. And Resor Prima, budget but with aircon, hot water, pool etc and right on a good white sand beach, 10 minutes pleasant walk from the town.
