My advice for a Day Trip north is as follows.

Bedugul Markets - Git Git - Pura Air Panas - Pura Ulun Danu - Tanah Lot (for sunset).

You can fit all that in perfectly if you leave from the Kuta area at about 8am. It's a full on day and you will more than likely get shunted off to some dodgey buffet along the way, but just skip that and take some food with you.

Markets are just markets, but good to see early in the morning. Git Git is nothing special, but worth visiting. Pura Air Panas is excellent. Slimy smelly pools of spring water. Quite enjoyable. Pura Ulun Danu is on Lake Bratan and is a must tourist photo opportunity. My photos came out just like the brochures! We skipped Tanah Lot last time as we were scared of the marauding hordes. But apparently it's a must do and can perfectly fit in on the day trip.

The best thing for me about this day trip was that we were able to see a few places that didn't have many tourists in them and we operating as they normally would! It's great to see the quirks of the different lifestyles and so forth.

When we were there, we didn't see one other tourist at Git Git which was suprising. It just meant that we were the targets of all the sellers on the path leading to the falls. Some say Munduk Falls are a better choice for this reason.

Pura Air Panas had only about 4 or 5 other foreign tourists visiting when we were there and they weren't speaking english anyway.

For me, this sort of trip is appealing. For others, perhaps not. It certainly is not packed with fast-paced action. :)
