Taking Immodium just seems to prolong the misery--it totally stops you up and allows whatever bug you have to stay in your system. Better to let it pass through you (literally, ha ha!!). I was striken with Bali Belly two years ago, and used the Pepto to take the edge off the cramps. I've heard that it might be good to take Pepto threee times a day as a preventitive measure. There is also a medicine called "Dr. Fowler's", a raspberry-type anti-diarrheal. I'm not sure where in the world you are, but here in Canada there is an oral vaccine called Dukoral available that is used for traveller's diarrhea and cholera. My husband and I are leaving for Bali in four days (yea!!!), so we've taken the vaccine--hopefully it works.
