Just wanted to post this email on in support of a great charity so if you are based in Melbourne and would like to donate even a bag of rice or sugar, please read on......Thank You

Hugh Evans(Director of The Oaktree Foundation & 2004 Young Australian of the Year) has reported back from Aceh that the place is a total mess (surprise!). He is distressed to report that the people are starving and we need to find ways of quickly getting food and medicine to these people as soon as possible.

There is a Garuda cargo flight leaving Sydney on Monday January 10 for Aceh that to date is only 25% full. The priority for this flight is medical supplies (Water purifying tablets/iodine, antiseptics, malaria and diarrhoea medication, antibiotics and rehydration solutions for children and adults are urgently needed) but the co-ordinators have advised us that if there is space they will allow us to also send food. I am waiting to hear back from Hugh as to whether they can arrange distribution of the food etc once it arrives in Aceh as this is a condition of getting it on the flight. If for whatever reason we dont get the stuff on this particular flight, we are in talks with Garuda in Melbourne to arrange something similar, as well as being in touch with Ausaid in Medan.

So....in preparation for any/all of these things happening, we need you and everyone you know to start donating goods and dropping them off at our central drop off point. This is the Oaktree Foundation office at 836 Burke Rd in Camberwell. Goods can be dropped off between 9am-9pm until January 14. To make the Aceh flight next Monday we need the stuff in the next 24 hours!!
