I am pretty sure that most things are cooked in palm oil (minyak sawit), but if you say "tampa kacang" or "tampa minyak kacang" which means "without peanut" or "without peanut oil", hopefully you will be OK. If you ask in English they usually do not understand and say yes to be polite.
Lembongan Island on Bali Hai is a bit expensive, but I think worth it. It can get a bit rough, so travel pills for the trip back may be needed.
The stalls are all think of a number and you will always pay more than that number. Matahari and other department stores are fixed price. Search the forum for comments on Galleria and the new monstrosity beside the Kuta art market.
Have a great trip.
