World is round also have some excellent photos and info for Penang.
During the Tsunami people were sadly killed but Penang was not affected as were the other areas, all hotels working as normal with no signs of anything amiss by the second day as the photos on the site will testify.
The only hotel to have a problem was the Casuarina Hotel, sea water in the pool so it had to be drained, all back to normal now.
There are some photos on either virtual tourist or world is round from Penang immediately following the Tsunami. I am sorry I can't remember exactly where I saw them.
